People inhabited Kallikulam as early as 1700. Sometime, a lady with a child in her arm, frequently came in the dream of village leader and asked a particular portion of land at Kallikulam. That time Kallikulam village people were legally fighting for ownership of Kallikulam village land in the district court. That woman again came in the dream of village leader and assured her blessing to win their legal battle. On the next day, village leader and the people got final judgment in favour of them. So they decided to honor that lady. With help of a European Roman Catholic priest they came to know that that lady was Mary.
தென் தமிழ்நாட்டின் தென் மாவட்டமாம், திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள, இராதாபுரம் தாலுகாவில் உள்ளது. அதிசயங்களையும், அற்புதங்களையும், அநுதினமும் நிகழ்த்திக் கொண்டிருக்கின்ற தெற்கு கள்ளிகுளம் வள்ளியூரில் இருந்து 10 நிமிட பயண தொலைவில் உள்ளது இப்புண்ணிய பூமி. இது ஒரு ஆன்மீக பூமி. புதுமைகள் நிகழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் புதுமை பூமி. அதிசயங்களையும், அற்புதங்களையும் அரங்கேற்றி வரும் அதிசய பூமி. குறிஞ்சி, முல்லை, மருதம், நெய்தல், பாலை ஆகிய ஐந்து வகை நிலங்களோடு “அன்னையும் ஆன்மீகமும் சார்ந்த” ஆறாவது நிலமாக தன்னையும் இணைத்துக் கொண்ட அன்னையின் பூமி ஆம் இது பனிமாதாவின் பாசமிகு பூமி. இயற்கை அன்னையின் அருள் இங்கே இருக்கின்ற அன்னையின் அருளால் நிறைவாக உள்ளது. இப்புனித பூமியின் புகழ் புவியெல்லாம் பரவ காரணம் கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபையின் சிறப்புமிக்க திருத்தலமாக விளங்குகின்ற பரிசுத்த அதிசய பனிமாதா திருத்தலம் தான்.
